UK Car Market In 2010 – Will Hybrid Cars Rule?
Year 2009 has seen a drastic recession of all times, and consumers all over the world have changed their spending habits. It has become a matter of concern for each and everyone to spend wisely. People are now well-aware of the need to buy only those products that are pocket-friendly as well as environment-friendly. Environmental issues and climate changes around the globe have raised alarm regarding the future of Earth.
Another considerable issue at the moment is the environmental pollution that is increasing the global warming. With the ozone layer already damaged, and nuclear explosions as well as industrial pollution making it worse, mother Earth is on the verge of destruction. As the people are gaining awareness, they have started using environmental friendly products and are trying to play their roles in saving the planet.
According to BBC, Toyota has announced that it shall manufacture a hybrid model of its Auris hatchback in the UK, from the year 2010. This would be the first time that Toyota would be manufacturing a car outside Japan or USA.
Hybrid technology uses two power sources, mainly electrical power and gasoline being the secondary source. Hybrid cars are almost as good as any conventional cars. The use of electrical energy to run the vehicle not only reduces the carbon emission but also provides an alternative solution for costly fuel consumption. The only reason behind its slow rate of adoption by consumers is its price. Hybrid cars are a bit expensive as compared to the conventional cars; however, in the long run, they are bound to benefit the purchasers as they are fuel efficient and provide reduced tax incentive.
On the contrary, there has been an increase in the hybrid car sales in the UK. Three of the luxury hybrid cars of Toyota Lexus have been selling well in the UK market and the Honda Civic IMA and Toyota Prius are gaining more popularity with time. Toyota Prius is an absolute success among the celebrities.
There is an obvious future for hybrid cars as their running costs are lower than conventional cars, plus they cost less to tax. Consumers are looking at these benefits, and as prices of hybrid cars lower down, there will be a definite trend to buy them. If the market potential was lacking, so many major car manufacturers would not have put their resources into developing hybrid cars.
Hybrid cars do not need to be recharged like electric cars and can operate on only the electric motor below a certain speed thus reducing emission output. Once the world climbs out of the economic crunch, there will be a surge in sales of hybrid cars. Car owners are aware that fuel costs will go on increasing as oil is a limited resource. Hybrid cars offer the same driving experience as conventional cars without any limitations.
With the expected decrease in the prices and increase in their production in the UK, hybrid cars are bound to dominate the UK car market in the year 2010.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
